Are you ready to discover some of the latest ground-breaking research and innovation in healthcare?
Are you interested in finding out how industry, academia, and healthcare can work more closely together to improve patient outcomes and the quality of life for people living with diabetes?
Join the University of Dundee’s School of Medicine and their panel of experts online as they explore some of the cutting-edge research, innovations and opportunities that the School has to offer in the field of diabetes research, such as:
iDiabetes - find out how the School working to implement precision diabetes care by developing a new clinical platform. iDiabetes will enhance testing and analysing health data to allow clinicians to better understand each patient’s diabetes, their risk for complications, and to tailor treatment.
Beta Cell Regeneration - discover how scientists are striving to make “a life free from insulin injections” possible for millions of people living with type 1 diabetes and how we’re working to develop new drugs to drive beta cell regeneration in the pancreas.
Pre-Diabetes Screening - the School will discuss their approach to reliably and accurately identify individuals at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, as well as the potential of new screening technologies, in order to implement early intervention strategies to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and its associated complications.
SHARE: The Scottish Health Research Register – hear how the School is using SHARE (a national biobanking initiative that collects and stores biological samples and associated data from ~300,000 consenting participants) to enhance medical research, such as investigating the genetics of type 2 diabetes and the molecular mechanisms underlying diabetes-related complications.
Collaborative Projects Using Healthcare Data - The Health Informatic Centre (HIC) stores and maintains secure healthcare data for ~20% of the Scottish population and works closely with partners in academia, industry, and the NHS to facilitate and deliver research with real world impact. Hear about the exciting projects HIC is involved with, as well as how HIC can provide training, services and support to assist you in gaining safe and secure access to health data for healthcare innovation.
