IBioIC’s 11th Annual Conference

12 and 13 March 2025

Technology and Innovation Centre, George St, Glasgow

IBioIC25 was our 11th Annual Conference.

On Day 1 we examined the power of partnerships to build supply chains, innovations, and sectors with inspiring speakers from the world of engineering biology and biotechnology, from world class research to exciting SMEs, and leading innovation clusters.

On Day 2 we moved to explore how innovations can get to market and the challenges of generating investment to scale, the regulatory landscape, and branding and marketing.

There will be a new Innovation Showcase and lots of interactive workshops for a deeper dive into a variety of topics.

IBioIC’s 10th Anniversary Conference took inspiration from the idea of transformation. The conference reflected on the transformation of the IB sphere over the past ten years, celebrated key success stories, and took a look forward to explore new trends, sectors, and technologies and assess the skills landscape and future skills needs. Workshops delved into key topics while the new Innovation Zone extended the ever-popular exhibition area to showcase up and coming innovators.

Bioeconomy Week Scotland 2024 took place between 11 and 15 March 2024.

Bioeconomy Week Scotland is a week devoted to celebrating the innovative, biobased, solutions being discovered and developed in Scotland.

 

What is the bioeconomy?

The bioeconomy is an important, and growing, part of Scotland’s economy. It uses natural resources and biological processes to improve the sustainability of all sorts of products from cosmetics and toiletries, to clothes, packaging, and building materials. It also supports the development of new therapeutics and medicines, finds innovative ways to use waste materials, and is contributing to lowering the carbon footprint of everything from food and drink to car batteries.

This invitation-only networking session delivered by the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder is dedicated to sharing knowledge and building connections between the biotechnology and textile industry communities. This closed event is an opportunity for the Biotech Innovators cohort to pitch to investors. The event follows three months of pitch training delivered by Maryanne Johnston, which involved two full day workshops, plus one practice session in the space where the live pitching session will be held.

The live pitching session will see representatives from each company deliver their 5 minute pitch to the panel of investors.
