About the Role
The University of Manchester is seeking a talented and motivated Research Associate to join the interdisciplinary team for the SuCCEED project, a major BBSRC-funded Prosperity Partnership with Shell. This ground-breaking initiative reimagines bulk chemical manufacturing by leveraging industrial biotechnology to produce renewable chemicals from sustainable feedstocks, contributing to global efforts to reduce CO2 emissions.
The successful candidate will work within a highly collaborative and diverse team based at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB), a cross-disciplinary research hub combining molecular biology, chemistry, biochemical engineering, materials science, synthetic biology, analytics, and computer science. The position will be based in the laboratory of Professor David Leys and involve close collaboration with Professor Nigel Scrutton, Dr. Neil Dixon, and Professor Anthony Green.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct experimental research as part of the SuCCEED project team.
Collaborate effectively with 8 Research Associates, 5 PhDs, and 8 group leaders at the University of Manchester.
Contribute to innovative research in sustainable feedstock utilization and renewable chemical production.
