Irina will discuss her non-linear career and how working in multiple different roles in different industries has prepared her for leadership. Irina will also focus on the transition from science to business and her current CEO role.
Trained as a geneticist, Irina spent over 10 years as a cancer scientist, developing targeted breast and gastric cancer therapies and researching mechanisms of cancer resistance. Seeing a lack of translation of promising science, she turned to funding management and investing, helping other researchers with the development of their healthcare innovations. This led her to Concr - a techbio company that applies astrophysics computational models to model human biology in silico and solve translational challenges in cancer treatment and care. After holding several leadership roles at Concr, she succeeded founder-CEO in January 2024.
Irina holds a PhD from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and an MBA from Imperial College Business School.
