Presenter: Dr Claire Flanagan, Senior Innovation Consultant, PNO Consultants Ltd
Claire started her career as a synthetic chemist for a CRO carrying out custom synthesis projects on behalf of pharma clients. She then returned to academia to complete a PhD in directed evolution of biocatalysts before working initially as a researcher then as a project manager. This included managing the IBCarb network - a Phase 1 BBSRC Network in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy (NIBB) and winning funding for and managing CarboMet, a Horizon 2020 Coordination & Support Action.
At PNO, Claire works closely with clients to develop innovative R&D project proposals for submission to various UK national (Innovate UK, BEIS, DASA, NIHR) and European funding (Eurostars, Horizon Europe) competitions. She has a demonstrable track record of successfully securing grant funding on behalf of clients across the chemical, pharma, biotech, agritech and bio-energy sectors and is particularly interested in technologies and innovations that are aimed at improving sustainability and will contribute to the growing circular bio-economy to achieve the UK's ambitious Net Zero targets.
