14:00-16:00

Background

The UK bioeconomy is currently worth £220bn, contributing to over 5 million jobs. Scotland is regarded as a key contributor to this as a result of its strong industrial base and world leading academic institutes and infrastructures.

In 2019 the Scottish Government updated the National Plan for Industrial Biotechnology (IB) and the Biorefinery Roadmap which now provide an action plan and guide for the continued growth of the Scottish Bioeconomy.

The Project

The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), has teamed up with KTN in the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder, a 3-year project funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)  to deliver the targets of the National Plan for Industrial Biotechnology.

The Bioeconomy Cluster Builder (BCB) project will contribute to the delivery of the National Plan for Industrial Biotechnology in Scotland by working with companies to raise awareness of the applications of biotechnology and bio-based products. The project will evaluate the whole value chain and look to bring benefits to companies aiming to support NetZero, in the form of improved sustainability, increased efficiency and superior product performance.

Join us for the Cluster Builder Launch event co-hosted by KTN and IBioIC on 23 July and hear more about its key focus areas and its planned activities, which are important to Scotland and to the whole of the UK.

The one-hour webinar will give you an introduction to the project, sets out its aims and how it will benefit your organisation. The agenda will cover crucial topics such as funding opportunities and the impact of IB, and its role in the Bioeconomy sector. In addition to the talks, attendees will have the opportunity of 1:1 networking sessions and direct reach-outs to other attendees or partners involved in the project.

A detailed agenda for the webinar will be available shortly.
