Sheena Fraser 

Sheena joined IBioIC in September 2024 as our FlexBio Scale-Up Facility’s Upstream Bioprocessing Manager, where she is responsible for technical oversight of FlexBio’s industry-led bioprocessing projects, implementation of the centre’s new 300-litre fermenter, and supporting respective technical training programs. 

Sheena has over two decades of experience in applied microbial and mammalian bioprocess innovation. Prior to her current position, Sheena held a role at Roslin Technologies, spearheading the establishment of media and bioprocessing functions pivotal in scaling up pluripotent stem cells for cultivated meat applications. Sheena ventured into the emerging field of cultivated meat in 2020 as the CSO of Mogale Meat Co (now WildBio) and COO of MeatOurFuture, contributing to the development of Africa’s first cultivated meat prototype. 

Sheena has a doctorate in Biotechnology from Rhodes University in South Africa, and previously led bioproduction at Synexa Life Sciences, co-founded Quorus Biotech, and is co-founder of Bio-Consult.
