Kirsty Robb
Kirsty graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2016 with a PhD in Biochemistry and Biophysics. Prior to joining IBioIC in August 2019, she worked in collaboration with GSK on a project to improve the yield of clavulanic acid from Streptomyces species using RNA sequencing and genetic manipulation.
Kirsty works within the Rapid Bioprocessing Prototyping Centre where she is responsible for day to day running of the laboratory as well as assisting with industry-focussed scale up projects.
She has a keen interest in science communication and public engagement specialising in educating people about antibiotic resistance and the fight against superbugs.
In her spare time, Kirsty works as a Mountain Leader and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition leader. She is passionate about the mountains of Scotland and encouraging young people to enjoy the great outdoors and is currently training for a 200 km Arctic cross country skiing expedition in 2020.
