Starting a biotech business (and a family) – a personal perspective

In the first of a new series of talks by the Women in Synthetic Biology network, Zoe Yu Tung Law, Co-Founder & CEO, New Wave Biotech talks about the challenges of starting a biotech business and a family.

Zoe is the CEO & Co-Founder of New Wave Biotech, where they develop AI Bioprocess Optimisation Software to help SynBio innovators scale bioprocesses faster, cheaper, and more sustainably. By doing this, they aim to accelerate the sustainable transformation of global supply chains.

In less than 2 years, Zoe and her co-founder Oli have grown the company from nothing to launching a product with paying customers and recognition as a pioneering innovation by leading industry organisations RSC and GFI. Alongside her startup journey, Zoe also started a family, navigating pregnancy/life as a new mum.

Prior to New Wave Biotech, Zoe spent 10 years mostly as a consultant launching emerging tech and data-related ventures for corporates.
