About WEST
Located in the iconic Templeton building in the heart of Glasgow Green, WEST is the only UK Brewery to produce all of its artisan lagers and ales in strict accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516. The law prescribes only the use of water, malt, hops and yeast – that’s it. Everything we do here at WEST can be summed up by our ethos ‘Glaswegian Heart. German Head’, combining precision with passion to create the perfect pint.
WEST was founded by Bavaria-born Petra Wetzel who first moved to Glasgow to study at University. Since then our growth has been staggering, going from a self-contained brewpub making beer only to serve in its on-site beerhall, to a successful distribution network which sells beer to thousands of shops, supermarkets, hotels, bars and restaurants across Scotland and beyond (you can even get a pint of St. Mungo lager in Hong Kong)!
