How to link up the bio-economy
16.30 - 17.15 BST
IBioIC's Technical Director Ian Archer and CuanTec CEO Cait Murray Green will present this session.
Every geography has a problem of bio-based (i.e. natural materials) waste streams: food waste, by-products of beer production, sewage sludge and so on. In Scotland, the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) is tasked with the job of connecting business with academics to help them turn these waste streams into revenue streams. IBioIC see this as a potential GBP 900M industry.
Find out how they are making those connections between their 130 members in Scotland, and how one company - CuanTec - has developed a shrink-wrap alternative from shellfish.
