The UK Cyanobacteria Research Network will host its 1st networking meeting, CyanoNet2018, at University of Glasgow on 13-14 September 2018.
Across the globe cyanobacteria are being developed as a sustainable chassis for industrial biotechnology - a ‘green E. coli’ that can build highly complex molecules using light, water and air. The Cyanobacteria Network Initiative (led by Prof. Amtmann and Dr. Madsen, University of Glasgow), funded by PHYCONET has recently collated a database that demonstrated excellent capacity across the UK for research on photosynthetic bacteria. The CyanoNet2018 meeting aims to explore the potential of this expertise for deepening our fundamental understanding of cyanobacterial biology and for facilitating applications in industry.
In addition to networking opportunities, the programme will offer 1) an overview of cyanobacteria research across the UK, 2) workshops to discuss opportunities to obtain grant funding and expand the portfolio of industrial collaboration, and 3) workshops to share technical tips and learn about career opportunities.
Attendance of interested parties from the Industry is very welcome. The meeting is funded by BBSRC-PHYCONET.
Early registration for this free event is recommended as places are limited.
