Introduction to a Circular Material Lens - Industry Material Trends

Circular DS would like to invite you to an exciting afternoon exploring the outcomes of a critical research project funded by Creative Informatics, University of Edinburgh that aimed to understand the opportunities and barriers to new materials for circular systems.

This event will present current innovative material research available looking through a circular systems lens.

Programme:

Setting the Context of the Relationship between Materials and Supply Chain Systems

Dr Lynn Wilson (founder of Circular DS and Circular Economy Thought Leader), funded by a Creative Informatics grant, led an analysis of ‘sustainable’ materials available today, their potential and the need for a greater understanding of how to use these innovations. She will introduce the concept of the circular economy and how this initiated the research into how material choices impact on how true material circularity is achieved across a wide variety of product ranges from fashion to medical devices.

Presentation of Findings from Material Research

Researchers working on the material library project will present material stories set within the context of a circular economy discussing the research journey and sharing sustainable material trend outcomes for circular systems.

Industry Presentation

CDS will be joined by a UK material innovation company that will share its journey of researching, developing and taking to market a new material suitable for circular systems.

Followed by a Q&A

Why join them?

Join CDS in exploring why material selection and circularity are critical for industries as we shift to a more sustainable future and learn about the material trends we see today. Then to celebrate the completion of the project, there will be drinks and an opportunity to network, where you can meet like-minded businesses interested in a ‘Net Zero’ future.

This will be ideal for businesses, designers in industry and procurement specialists to network and build a greater understanding of circularity in the material world.
