Katie joined the IBioIC as a laboratory trainee in June 2024, working at the FlexBio facility. In this role, she supports the facility's operations and projects through various key duties, including laboratory maintenance and contributions to upstream processing projects. 

Currently in her fourth year at the University of Aberdeen, Katie is pursuing an MSci in Microbiology with an industrial placement. This program combines academic coursework with hands-on industry experience, providing her with a robust understanding of microbiological principles and their practical applications. After completing her placement at FlexBio in August 2025, Katie will return to the university for her final year in September 2025.

Through her time at IBioIC, Katie aims to develop her practical laboratory skills and establish valuable connections within the biotech industry, which are essential for her future career in microbiology.

Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Katie enjoys reading, going to the gym, and playing badminton to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
