Laura Rana

Laura graduated from Heriot Watt university with a first in biological sciences after which she took on a 6 month internship at Green Biologics in Oxford learning many molecular techniques as well as carrying out her first fermentations. For the last three years she has been researching Clostridial acetone, butanol, ethanol fermentation at Celtic Renewables. Here she was involved in the development of new renewable feedstocks as well as assisting with the scale up of fermentation technology from lab scale to industrial scale. She carried out lab maintenance, analytical analysis and loved visiting schools to teach the next generation about industrial biotech.
Within IBioIC Laura assists with the set up and execution of industry-focused research projects at the Flexible Downstream Bioprocessing Centre located at Heriot Watt University.
Most of her spare time is spent out walking with her two terriers or in the studio practicing aerial gymnastics. She is also a keen cross stitcher and will pick up any craft that takes her fancy.
