Maria Kowal

Maria joined the IBioIC team in September 2018 as a Research Associate. Primarily based in the RapidBio lab at the University of Strathclyde, Maria is responsible for running and reporting on client-driven fermentation experiments, as well as bringing the operation of RapidBio in line with current industry CRO standards.
Maria has a diverse biotechnological background, with expertise in both upstream and downstream processes, and key analytical techniques. After graduating from her PhD in Microbiology she spent three years in the biopharmaceutical and medical devices industry. Before joining IBioIC Maria worked at Merck Millipore in Livingston, developing purification processes for blood-typing reagents. She considers her technical strengths to be AKTA chromatography, HPLC analysis, and anaerobic fermentation, but she also enjoys working with clients and cooperating with others to develop and optimise processes. In her spare time, Maria is a competitive ballroom and latin American dancer!
