Rachel Moir

Rachel joined IBioIC in May 2016 and was responsible for the management of the Centre’s feasibility and core projects. Nowadays, Rachel manages IBioIC's Skills Programme which develops and delivers training opportunities from HN - PhD level.

Since obtaining her MSci in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry and MSc in Environmental Studies, both from the University of Strathclyde, Rachel has gained over 10 years’ experience working as a project manager in the public, private and third sectors. This includes managing a programme of joint public and private sector scientific research projects for the third sector organisation SNIFFER; managing a £2million IT system implementation project within the education sector at SQA; and working on large infrastructure projects such as the M74 link and the Forth Replacement Crossing with a global engineering company.

In addition to project management experience, Rachel has also worked in a technical capacity as a commercial consultant with expertise in policy development, funding application, training delivery, waste management, contaminated land assessment, pollution control and environmental legislation.

In her spare time, Rachel is an active member of her local running club and enjoys off road running and competing in the odd ultra marathon. Rachel also enjoys spending time with her husband in the outdoors walking, mountain biking and open water swimming across Scotland and further afield with her mini campervan in tow.

Rachel is now based at our Heriot Watt University office.
