Holiferm is facilitating the transition of the 36 billion surfactant market from harmful, oil- based chemicals to biobased alternatives by providing a collaborative innovation platform with the current market leaders.

Holiferm has just completed its first technology license with one of the field leading companies and received Venture capital funding, and are now scaling up to apply the technology to molecules of interest in collaboration with a number of production companies, in which the applicant will play a key role.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate will be responsible for undertaking research and development to apply breakthrough integrated gravity separation technology to several biosurfactants produced by fermentation in high demand from customers. Candidate will liaise with customers for inbound tech transfer of state of the art, develop the process in accordance with KPIs from the customer, and demonstrate enhanced technology to customer. Candidate will support technology scale up, working with process engineers and industrial partners to scale technology to pre industrial scale.

Candidate requirements

We are seeking highly motivated innovators who want to challenge themselves and others and fit well with our company philosophy, and first and foremost, get things done! The individual should have;

• Enthusiasm and ability to think creatively and develop new technology.
• Exceptional ability in fermentation process development (increasing titer/productivity) for lipid products, preferably with expertise biosurfactants.
• Expertise and experience running a range of benchtop bioreactors.
• Excellent trouble shooting skills in the context of fermentation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally for collaborative projects for up to 3 weeks at a time.

• Specific knowledge of biosurfactants.
• Understanding of lipid quantification and purification techniques.
• A strong understanding of phase separation/surfactant behaviour.
• Strong language skills, particularly Mandarin and Japanese, and to a lesser extent Portuguese, French, Korean, Spanish and German.
• PhD or similar development experience in process development for bioproducts.
