Chief Operating Officer/Equity Partner

Start Date: Q1 2019

Oceanium is a bio-tech, social impact start-up focused on developing sustainable materials from sustainably sourced macro-algae to create jobs, sequester carbon, bio-remediate ocean acidification and create ocean sanctuaries. Based at the European Marine Science Park in Oban Scotland with an office in London, Oceanium is seeking an experienced COO to join as equity partner.

The COO will be an integral part of the management team and instrumental to the success of the business. You will ensure sustainable supply chain, oversee design and build of processing and manufacturing facilities, develop and manage partner and client relationships and ensure timely and on budget product delivery. You will provide technical support to Oceanium Executive Team, engage in hands-on project- based work, manage processing resources, strategize and schedule to optimise processing and manufacturing and ensure timely, on budget delivery to clients/partners.

You will have to maintain control of diverse business operations, so we expect you to be an experienced and efficient leader. The COO will work with the Executive Management team to develop operationala strategies and secure necessary resources, equipment and facilities; manage budgets/P&L and ensure company meets targets and goals.

• Design and implement business operational plans and procedures

• Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth

• Establish policies that promote company culture and vision

• Oversee daily operations of the company (IT, Legal, Accounting, Manufacturing, Transportation, etc.)

• Lead employees to encourage maximum performance and dedication

• Evaluate performance by measuring, analysing, interpreting data again key metrics

• Work with Executive Team in fundraising ventures

• Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances regionally, nationally and globally, etc.)

• Manage relationships with partners/vendors

• Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role

• Understanding of business functions such as manufacturing, process flow, supply chain, transportation and delivery

• Demonstrable competency in strategic planning

• Experience in fundraising team member

• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics

• Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office

• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities

• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills

• Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
