Projects

To achieve the Centre’s vision of accelerating and de-risking the development of commercially viable, sustainable industrial biotechnology solutions, IBioIC operates four different project types:

  • Industry Led
  • Equipment Centre
  • Feasibility
  • Core
The project programme, together with the establishment of the two equipment centres,  plays a crucial role in IBioIC’s success.

Industry Led Projects

The IB Accelerator Programme (formerly known as the Exemplar Programme) is a series of funding competitions designed to support collaborative projects that address a defined market need or commercial opportunity through the innovative application of biotechnology.

These projects are led by an IBioIC industrial member working in a collaborative capacity with at least one partnering Scottish HEI. The accumulated expertise of the project team is key to the delivery of the identified commercial opportunity and the IBioIC vision to achieve commercial development of IB in Scotland.

IBioIC application success rate is close to 50% and to date, the centre has funded 27 Industry Led Projects with a total project value of almost £7 million.
