Oxford Biotrans has just raised £2.1 million, building on its major milestone of commercial production of natural-grade nootkatone, the smell and taste of grapefruit.

This is significant because, currently, nootkatone production is challenging, costly, and environmentally damaging - 400,000kg of grapefruits are needed to produce just 1kg of the flavouring used in products such as drinks, desserts and sweets. Using this investment, the company aims to accelerate market entry of further products in the pipeline, building on the performance and capabilities of our innovative platform technology.
