OPPORTUNITIES FOR FOOD BY-PRODUCT VALORISATION

An all-encompassing one-day event for bio-based professionals from industry, and established academic researchers, interested in innovations in the valorisation of food waste and use of anaerobic digestion. Hear about the challenges in this area and experiences from industry and academia on providing solutions. Event-exclusive project funding, up to £10k, will be available for joint industry/academia projects that look to provide innovative solutions to problems.

IBioIC and Scottish Enterprise, in partnership with AD Net and Food Waste Net (the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council Networks in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy - BBSRC NIBBs), invite you to join us at an event aimed at those interested in innovations in the valorisation of food waste and use of anaerobic digestion.   Attendees will hear about issues faced by companies in the processing of food and the valorisation of co-products, and hear from industry and academics on their experiences on providing solutions to these issues.

Event-exclusive information on project funding up to £10k, (subject to terms and conditions) for joint industry/academia projects that look to provide innovative solutions, will also be provided.

The event will be held on Wednesday 6 September at University of Strathclyde, Stenhouse Wing, 173 Cathedral Street, Glasgow, G4 0RQ.

The programme for the event is attached.  The morning session will introduce the aims of IBioIC, AD Net and Food Waste Net, together with presentations from Zero Waste Scotland and SEPA.  Following lunch and networking time, the afternoon session will demonstrate examples of innovation between industry and academia which have been successful in solving problems faced by industry in this area.
